Hays are recruiting a Full-Time Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant in Ashton-Under-Lyne for a fantastic school which caters for pupils aged 3-19 with a variety of additional learning needs. This role involves working with small groups of students with ASD aged 12-16, some with challenging behaviour and mobility issues. Your new role

The school is offering trial days in the coming weeks. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Working with small groups of students aged 12-16 with diverse learning needs and challenging behaviour.
• Creating and maintaining a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment under pressure.
• Demonstrating patience and empathy when managing challenging behaviour.
• Supporting teachers with lesson plans and ensuring student engagement and care.
• Collaborating effectively with the teaching team to provide the best care for pupils.

What you'll need to succeed

Candidates should have:

• At least 40 days of relevant experience working or volunteering in a school within the last 2-3 years.
• Empathy, calmness, problem-solving skills, and high motivation.
• Team Teach training is preferred.
