Job summary

Horizon Care and Education is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join Brewood SEN School in Deal, Kent. You will support pupils aged 11-18 with SEN including SLCN, Autism, ADHD, PDA and SEMH, both in and out of class, assisting with learning and social development.

The role requires experience with behavioural support needs and a willingness to work towards a TA qualification. One Horizon platform benefits and other staff initiatives are offered.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with children who have behavioural support needs and knowledge of behavioural management techniques.
• GCSE English and Maths at grade C or equivalent functional skills.
• Willingness to work towards a recognised teaching assistant qualification.

Responsibilities

• Assist students in their educational and social development.
• Provide support inside and outside of the classroom to enable full engagement in activities.
• Help set up activities using technology or adapt the environment to meet needs.
• Support teachers by engaging with students, providing learning support, and reacting positively in classroom situations.
• Work 1:1 with some students to give individualized learning time.
