Job summary

Aspire People are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support children with special educational needs in Derby schools. You will provide 1:1 and small group assistance, helping pupils build academic, social, and emotional skills.

With a patient, caring approach and strong teamwork, you will work with teachers and SENCOs to implement IEPs, promote inclusive behaviour, and adapt activities to pupil needs. DBS update service encouraged.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children with SEN (school-based preferred).
• Patient, caring, and resilient approach.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to adapt to different school settings and pupil needs.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).

Pay Rate: £95 - £110 per day (dependent on experience)

About the Role:

Aspire People are currently recruiting a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to work in schools across Derby. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and helping them reach their full potential in a supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties
• Support students with their academic, social, and emotional development
• Work closely with class teachers and SENCOs to implement individual education plans (IEPs)
• Promote positive behaviour and create an inclusive, safe learning environment
• Assist with classroom activities and adapt learning materials as needed

Requirements:

• Previous experience working with children with SEN (school-based experience preferred)
• A patient, caring, and resilient approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to adapt to different school settings and pupil needs
• An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one through Aspire People)
