Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join an SEN School in Belper on a long-term basis starting in September. The role is temporary, with potential to become permanent via Milk Academy.

You will support pupils with additional needs on a 1:1 and small-group basis, help access the curriculum, and work with the class teacher to implement EHCP targets. A patient, empathetic and resilient approach is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people, ideally in SEN/education.
• Patient, empathetic and resilient approach with genuine passion.
• Strong communication and relationship-building with pupils, staff and families.
• Ability to adapt to individual needs and stay calm in challenging situations.
• Understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups to meet learning and emotional needs.
• Help pupils access the curriculum by adapting activities and providing additional support.
• Work with the class teacher to deliver lessons and implement EHCP targets.
• Promote a positive, inclusive learning environment that builds confidence and independence.
