Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting a SEN Teaching Assistant for an SEN School in Melton Mowbray on a long-term basis starting September. The role is temporary, with a focus on supporting pupils with additional needs in a nurturing environment.

You will work one-to-one and in small groups, adapting activities to meet individual learning needs and help pupils access the curriculum alongside the class teacher. A patient, resilient approach and excellent communication with pupils, staff and families are

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people, ideally within an SEN, education, care or support setting.
• A patient, empathetic and resilient approach with a genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families.
• The ability to adapt to the individual needs of pupils and remain calm in challenging situations.
• A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities within an educational setting.
• The ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a wider school team.

Responsibilities

• Supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, responding to their individual learning and emotional needs.
• Helping pupils access the curriculum by adapting activities and providing additional support where required.
• Working alongside the class teacher to deliver engaging lessons and implement EHCP targets and support strategies.
• Promoting a positive, inclusive learning environment that encourages confidence, independence and personal development.
