Job summary

Academics is recruiting a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant for a welcoming SEN school in Upminster. The role starts in October 2026 and is full-time, Monday to Friday, with a daily rate of £95-£100.

You will provide tailored support to pupils with Special Educational Needs, delivering 1:1 and small-group work to boost academic, social, and communication skills, and work closely with teachers and professionals to meet individual learning needs.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs.
• Patience, caring and proactive approach.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide tailored support to pupils with SEN to access learning.
• Deliver 1:1 and small-group support to develop academic, social and communication skills.
• Collaborate with class teachers, the SENCO and professionals to meet learning needs.
• Promote independence and confidence through nurturing, child-centred approaches.
• Adapt activities to suit individual abilities and create an inclusive learning environment.
• Help create a safe, engaging classroom where every pupil feels supported.
