Job summary

Brent Primary School in Brent, Greater London, is looking for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support children with special educational needs.

You will work one-to-one and in small groups, with a focus on early phonics, communication and pre-reading development, helping to build foundations for successful literacy in a nurturing EYFS setting. Personal care and close collaboration with the EYFS Lead are expected.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with ASD in EYFS/SEND settings.
• Good understanding of early phonics and early reading development.
• Able to engage through songs, rhymes, stories and practical activities.
• Capable of working within a close-knit team and following senior staff guidance.

Responsibilities

• Support children one-to-one in a mainstream primary school.
• Support early phonics and literacy development.
• Provide personal care as required.
• Use songs, rhymes, stories and practical activities to develop phonological awareness.
• Support transitions, sensory needs and daily routines.
• Collaborate with the EYFS Lead and other Teaching Assistants.
• Encourage children's confidence and engagement in learning.
