Job summary

REESON Education is seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant for a Barnet primary school to support children with special educational needs. The role focuses on one-to-one support and targeted early phonics and literacy development within a mainstream setting.

You will work under the EYFS Lead and SEND team, benefiting from CPD and specialist Autism training while helping children build foundational literacy skills and confidence as learners.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with Autism (ASD) or SEND in EYFS/school setting.
• Ability to support early phonics and literacy.
• Capable of one-to-one and small-group support with children.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one support to children with SEN in a mainstream primary school.
• Support early phonics and literacy activities planned by the EYFS Lead.
• Assist with phonics interventions, focusing on sounds and early reading concepts.
• Support communication, language development, and social interaction through play-based activities.
• Adapt activities to meet individual needs and use visual supports where appropriate.
• Assist with transitions, routines, and daily care needs as required.
• Collaborate with the EYFS Lead and SEN team to maintain a consistent learning environment.
• Encourage confidence, independence, and engagement in learning.
