Job summary

Remedy Education is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant in Kingston upon Thames to support an 11-year-old with ASD and GDD. The role is part-time (15 hours/week), 3 hours daily, Monday to Friday, under a 2:1 support arrangement with a SEN Tutor.

You will use visual supports and clear language to help the student engage, with emphasis on calm, consistent strategies and regulated sessions. Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one is required.

Qualifications

• Experience with children with complex SEN needs.
• Confident supporting children with ASD and/or GDD.
• Calm, patient, resilient.
• Flexible and able to adapt approach in daily sessions.
• Willingness to obtain Enhanced DBS (Update Service) if not held.

Responsibilities

• Work 2:1 with SEN Tutor to support learning and engagement.
• Maintain attention and engagement with activities.
• Use clear language, visuals, gestures and demonstrations.
• Provide sensory and movement breaks when needed.
• Help regulate emotions and respond to signs of dysregulation.
• Support social interaction, communication and play.
• Create a low-arousal, predictable environment and follow Tutor guidance.
