Job Description

Role: SEN Teaching Assistant (ADHD)

Start: ASAP

Location: Islington, North London

Contract: Full time

Rate: 90-115 per day

School Type: Secondary

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant (ADHD) to support a KS3 child with moderate ADHD. The student’s academic ability is progressing, but he needs help with concentration and interaction with peers. As an SEN Teaching Assistant (ADHD), you will demonstrate your SEN support skills and liaise with other academic professionals and healthcare leads.

The ideal candidate:

  • Has experience working with students with behavioural challenges, preferably in an educational or special education setting.
  • Knows behaviour management techniques, positive reinforcement strategies, and de-escalation methods.
  • Can establish rapport and build positive relationships with students, demonstrating patience, empathy, and understanding.
  • Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
  • Has excellent problem-solving skills and can remain calm in challenging situations.
  • Is flexible and adaptable to meet changing student and educational environment needs.

Requirements:

  • Previous child-based experience working with children in educational or supportive roles.
  • Experience with SEND: understanding and working with students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
  • Valid DBS check on the update service.
  • Passion for education and contributing to the development and well-being of young individuals.
