Job summary

Teach Plus are recruiting a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant for a welcoming Islington primary school, starting January 2027. The role focuses on 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEND, helping them access the curriculum and build confidence in a nurturing environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and the SENCO, supporting pupils with ASD/ADHD and language needs, while maintaining high expectations and inclusivity within the classroom.

Qualifications

• Experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant or in a similar role supporting children with additional learning needs.
• Strong subject knowledge relevant to the role.
• Enhanced DBS Certificate with the Update Service.
• Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 and small-group support for primary-aged pupils with SEND.
• Support pupils with ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties and other additional learning needs.
• Implement IEPs, personalised learning strategies and targeted interventions to support pupil progress.
• Encourage independence, confidence, communication and positive social interactions within the classroom.
• Work closely with class teachers, the SENCO and wider staff to ensure pupils can access the curriculum and participate fully.
• Monitor pupil progress, behaviour and emotional wellbeing, adapting support strategies to meet individual needs.
