Job summary

GSL Education are recruiting a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to work in the NG17 area within a specialist school setting. The role is supply-based with potential for long-term or permanent opportunities for the right candidate.

The ideal candidate will have experience in SEN or additional needs and a nurturing approach, supporting learning, communication and social development to help pupils reach their full potential.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with SEN or additional needs.
• Patience, resilience and nurturing approach.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils.
• Proactive in supporting pupils academically and pastorally.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with a range of additional needs.
• Support pupils with learning, communication, social and emotional development.
• Help create a calm, positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Work with teachers and support staff to deliver individualised support.
• Promote positive behaviour and engagement throughout the school day.
• Support pupils to develop confidence, independence and life skills.
• Follow individual support plans and contribute to a consistent approach.
