Job summary

Uniform Education is seeking a passionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a caring primary school in Brent, London. The role focuses on providing targeted 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with Special Educational Needs, helping them access learning and develop essential communication and social skills.

You will work with PECS, Makaton, and Now and Next Boards to support individual targets, under the guidance of the SENCO and teaching staff. DBS update service or application is required.

Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting pupils with SEN is essential.
• Experience using PECS is essential.
• Experience with Makaton is highly desirable.
• Experience in a primary school setting with additional needs is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN.
• Support pupils to access the curriculum through differentiated activities.
• Use PECS and Makaton to support pupils' communication.
• Implement Now and Next Boards and other visual communication strategies.
• Support pupils with communication, social, emotional and behavioural needs.
• Promote independence, confidence and positive relationships.
• Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider school team.
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
