Job summary

GSL Education is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support children with additional needs in Greenwich. You will provide 1-to-1 help, adapt materials and assist with routines to foster learning and wellbeing.

The role requires patience, empathy, and resilience, with safeguarding awareness and a valid enhanced DBS. GCSEs in Maths and English are expected, and SEN training is desirable.

Qualifications

• Patient, empathetic and resilient nature required.
• Experience working with children with SEN is necessary.
• Understanding of SEN needs including autism, ADHD, speech language difficulties, SEMH.
• Clear Enhanced DBS check is required.
• GCSEs in Maths and English (A*-C) or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1-to-1 support for ASD pupils, help them understand lessons and manage routines.
• Adapt learning materials by simplifying instructions, using visual aids and alternative resources.
• Support students to manage anxiety, sensory needs and emotions.
• Encourage communication and interaction with peers and participation in group learning.
