Job summary

APT Education is recruiting a resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with pupils with additional needs at a large primary school in Kettering. The role starts in September and is full‑time, involving supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD and behavioural needs within a structured environment.

You will work closely with teachers and the SLT to maintain calm, supportive routines and help pupils access learning through visual supports and de‑escalation techniques.

Qualifications

• Experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant or supporting pupils with additional needs.
• Ability to manage challenging behaviour with consistency and care.
• Experience with Autism, ADHD, behavioural needs, or non‑verbal pupils.
• Valid DBS (or willingness to obtain one).

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support for pupils with additional needs.
• Support pupils with Autism, ADHD, behavioural needs, and non‑verbal communication.
• Use visuals, routines and calm communication strategies.
• Assist with emotional regulation and de‑escalation.
• Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider SLT.
• Create a safe, structured and positive learning environment.
