Job summary

APT Education is recruiting a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant in Northampton (NN1) to work 1:1 with pupils with additional needs at a large, welcoming Primary school. This full-time role starts in September, supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD and other needs, in a structured learning environment.

The role involves 1:1 support, close collaboration with the class teacher and SENCO, and employing calm communication strategies to aid emotional regulation and positive behaviour.

Qualifications

• Experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant or supporting pupils with additional needs.
• Confidence supporting challenging behaviour.
• Experience with Autism, ADHD, behavioural needs, or non-verbal pupils.
• Strong communication and de-escalation skills.
• A patient, consistent and resilient approach.
• Valid DBS (or willingness to obtain one).

Responsibilities

APT Education is recruiting a dedicated, patient and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant in Northampton (NN1) to work 1:1 with pupils with additional needs at a large, welcoming Primary school. This is a full-time role starting in September, supporting pupils who may present with challenging behaviour, Autism, ADHD, non-verbal communication needs, and wider behavioural or emotional needs.

This Primary school in Northampton NN1 has a supportive SLT, strong routines, and a nurturing ethos, making it an excellent environment for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant who thrives in structured, consistent settings.
