Job summary

GSL Education Kent is seeking a caring SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist team in Folkestone, Kent. This is a full-time role starting ASAP, with a Monday–Friday schedule designed to support pupils with autism, SEMH challenges, and complex needs.

You will work under the guidance of class teachers and therapists to deliver targeted interventions, promote communication, and foster independence in a inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Prior experience supporting children with additional needs.
• Calm, patient, and empathetic personality.
• Excellent communication skills and collaborative mindset.
• Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and behaviour management.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Provide targeted 1:1 and small group interventions.
• Support pupils with sensory regulation, speech, and emotional well-being.
• Apply therapeutic, low-arousal strategies to encourage positive behaviour.
• Collaborate with lead teacher to maintain a welcoming, productive setting.
• Promote self-sufficiency, social interaction, and life skills.
• Follow EHCP guidance and individual education plans accurately.
