Job summary

M&M Supply is recruiting for a SEN Teaching Assistant in Taunton. The role involves supporting children with ALN/SEMH, including those with ASD, ADHD, and speech and language needs. You will provide 1:1 and small group support, working closely with teachers and therapists.

Flexible full-time/part-time and casual supply opportunities are available, with competitive daily rates. A supportive consultant team will assist your placements across SEN schools in Taunton.

Qualifications

• Experience with SEN/ALN/SEMH environments in schools, care, youth work, or similar.
• Ability to provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with diverse needs.

M&M Supply is an education recruitment agency, who specialise within Special Educational Needs, working in partnership with a number of SEN/SEMH Schools across Taunton. We are currently recruiting passionate and dedicated SEN/SEMH Teaching Assistant to support children and young people with a variety of Additional Learning Needs (ALN), but also Social Emotional and Mental Health difficulties.

Due to diagnosis, depending on the school and requirements, some roles may involve working with young individuals with Behavioural Difficulties.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work within specialist education settings that prioritise inclusive practice, pupil wellbeing, and personalised learning.

About the Role

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with a range of Additional Learning Needs (ALN)
• Support learners with ASD, ADHD, SEMH needs, speech and language difficulties, SEMH and complex learning needs
• Assist in delivering personalised learning programmes tailored to individual needs and support plans
• Promote positive behaviour strategies in line with school policies
• Encourage independence, confidence, and social development
• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and pastoral teams
• Support pupils with personal care needs where required

Who We're Looking For

• Have experience working with children or young people with SEN/ALN/SEMH (school, care, youth work, sports coaching, support work or similar)
• Are patient, empathetic, and resilient
• Have strong communication and teamwork skills
• Are confident supporting pupils with additional behavioural or emotional needsHold a Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential)
• Have an enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or are willing to obtain one)

Experience within specialist settings or working with pupils with complex needs would be highly advantageous.
