Qualifications

This is a unique opportunity to support children with additional needs in a supportive and purposeful learning environment.

The Role
We are seeking committed SEN Teaching Assistants to join our growing team, supporting students with a range of special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and complex learning profiles. The ideal candidate will be proactive, patient, and dedicated to providing high-quality support tailored to individual pupil needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support to pupils with SEN, both one-to-one and in small groups, under the guidance of teaching staff & SENCOs.

  • Assist with implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) & behaviour management strategies.

  • Adapt learning materials & activities to suit the specific needs of pupils.

  • Foster a positive, inclusive, & safe learning environment to help pupils thrive both academically & emotionally.

  • Support with personal care needs and implement therapeutic programmes, where required.

  • Help manage classroom behaviour & promote positive social interactions.

  • Contribute to observations, assessments, and the overall progress tracking of pupils.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates should meet the following criteria:

  • Experience: At least 1 year of experience working in an SEN or special school setting is desirable.

  • Qualifications: A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is preferred. Training in Team Teach, Makaton, PECS, or Moving & Handling would be advantageous.

  • Skills & Attributes:

    • A deep understanding and empathy for children with additional needs.

    • Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach.

    • Resilience, adaptability, and a calm, nurturing attitude under pressure.

  • DBS Check:

    • All applicants must have or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS check (Child Workforce). If not on the update service, applicants will need to undergo a new check, the cost of which may be charged to the applicant.
