Job summary

Monarch Education, part of Affinity Workforce, is partnering with a specialist SEN school in the Redditch area to recruit dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants. You will support pupils aged 4-16 with a range of additional needs, delivering 1:1 or small-group assistance and helping implement individual learning plans.

The role requires empathy, resilience and good teamwork; UK-based experience in SEN or care/education is essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEN or in a care/education setting.
  • Level 2 or Level 3 TA qualification (desirable but not essential).
  • Calm, nurturing and resilient approach.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and work proactively.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Understanding of SEN strategies, sensory needs or communication approaches such as PECs or Makaton (desirable).

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with additional learning, communication and sensory needs
  • Follow personalised learning plans and EHCP targets
  • Provide 1:1 or small‑group support in and out of the classroom
  • Use visual timetables, communication tools and structured routines
  • Assist with personal care where required (training provided)
  • Support positive behaviour strategies and emotional regulation
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and therapists
  • Help create a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment
  • Encourage independence, confidence and social interaction

SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Redditch
Hours: 32.5 hours per week (8:30am – 3:30pm)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Temporary – Permanent

  • Moderate learning difficulties (MLD)
  • Autism and communication needs
  • Social, emotional and behavioural needs
  • Sensory processing difficulties
  • Physical or medical needs
  • Global developmental delay

We are now seeking dedicated, patient and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistants to join their team. This is an ideal role for someone passionate about helping children overcome barriers and achieve small but meaningful progress every day.

Key Responsibilities
