Full-Time SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) Portsmouth, Hampshire

Are you passionate about supporting young people with special educational needs? GSL Education are seeking a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and well-resourced secondary school in Portsmouth. This rewarding role starts immediately and offers a starting salary between £17,500 and £19,000 per annum, depending on experience, with opportunities for progression as you gain further skills and experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Join the school s dedicated resource base, supporting students with EHCPs for Autism, Learning Difficulties, and Speech & Language needs.
  • Provide tailored one-to-one and group support to help students access the curriculum and thrive in a structured, nurturing environment.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers and SEN specialists to implement individual education plans and adapt learning materials.
  • Promote student independence, confidence, and emotional well-being through consistent, patient support.
  • Assist with the development and delivery of engaging, inclusive activities that meet diverse learning needs.

Job Requirements:

  • Candidates from the care sector with transferable skills in supporting children with SEN or physical disabilities are warmly encouraged to apply.
  • Kind, patient, and empathetic professionals who can build strong, trusting relationships with students.
  • Team players with a proactive mindset and excellent communication skills.
  • Passionate individuals committed to making education inclusive and meaningful for all learners.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
