Job summary

Academics is recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants for secondary schools in Reading, offering a welcoming, inclusive setting where you can help students succeed academically, socially and emotionally.

Whether you have SEN experience or are starting a career in education, this role provides valuable classroom experience with a dedicated Academics consultant guiding you throughout your placement across multiple Reading schools.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience with children or young people with SEN is desirable but not essential.
  • Careful, patient and resilient approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting students with SEN in the classroom to help them access learning and achieve their individual goals.
  • Assisting with the delivery of personalised learning plans and behaviour support strategies.
  • Working one-to-one and in small groups to build students' confidence, independence and engagement.
  • Collaborating with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals to monitor progress and adapt support where needed.
  • Promoting a positive, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
  • Providing personal care or mobility support where required.
  • Maintaining accurate records and communicating effectively with school staff and parents.

SEN Teaching Assistant - Secondary School | Reading

Academics is working with a number of welcoming and inclusive secondary schools in Reading that are looking to recruit dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants. These schools are committed to providing a supportive learning environment where every student is encouraged to succeed academically, socially and emotionally.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and the wider SEN team to provide tailored support to students with a range of additional learning needs.

Your responsibilities
  • Supporting students with SEN in the classroom to help them access learning and achieve their individual goals.
