Job summary

Aspire People are seeking a Teaching Assistant to support students with SEN in Northamptonshire. You will assist with classroom management, small groups, personal care where required, and help foster social integration under teacher supervision.

The role offers diverse placements—permanent, long-term, short-term and day-to-day—plus competitive pay (£90-£100 per day) and access to CPD and training opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children, ideally in SEN or educational settings.
  • Compassionate, patient and flexible approach.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
  • Commitment to supporting children with special educational needs; Level 2/3 TA qualification desirable but not essential.

Job description

Job Title: Teaching Assistant - SEN Schools

Location: Northamptonshire

Contract Type: Full-time, Temporary & Permanent Roles Available

Salary: £90 - £100 per day

About the Role

As a Teaching Assistant at one of our partner SEN schools, you will play a vital role in supporting students with a range of learning needs, including but not limited to Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD), and moderate learning disabilities (MLD).

Responsibilities
  • Assisting with classroom management and ensuring a positive learning environment
  • Supporting individual students or small groups with their learning
  • Helping students with personal care or physical needs where required
  • Encouraging social integration and positive relationships between students
  • Assisting teachers with lesson planning and classroom activities
  • Providing emotional and behavioural support to students when needed
About You
  • Experience in working with children, ideally in a SEN or educational setting

  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team
  • A commitment to supporting the needs of children with special educational needs
  • A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification) is desirable but not essential
