Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Milton Keynes

Start Date: September 2025

Contract Type: Fixed Term (1 year, with the potential to become permanent following budget review)

Day Rate: £12 - £13 an hour (dependent on experience and qualifications)

Job Description:

A well-regarded primary school within easy reach of Milton Keynes is looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic and supportive team from September 2025.

From playing board games to leading science experiments, from supporting learning to celebrating success – our Teaching Assistants are at the heart of our school community. You’ll be supporting children with additional needs, both 1:1 and in small groups, helping them engage with learning and build confidence day by day.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to pupils with additional learning needs.
  • Support children’s academic, social, and emotional development both in and outside the classroom.
  • Collaborate with teachers, families and external agencies to ensure consistent and effective provision.
  • Assist in implementing EHCP strategies and individual support programmes.
  • Help manage classroom routines, resources, and displays to enhance the learning environment.
  • Take part in trips, lunchtime support, and wider school activities as part of your role.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience supporting children with additional needs in a primary setting.
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Calm, patient and adaptable with a nurturing, positive approach.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to undertake training relevant to the role.
  • Genuine passion for supporting children to thrive and succeed.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
