Job summary

Prospero Teaching are recruiting a SEN Teaching Assistant for a primary school in M16, Manchester. The role involves supporting pupils with autism, ADHD and SEMH needs, 1:1 or small groups, and assisting in delivering engaging lessons under the teacher’s guidance.

The successful candidate will promote confidence, communication and positive behaviour, acting as a reliable adult role model in the classroom and on the playground. Term-time only, full-time schedule.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting or mentoring children or young people.
  • Patience, approachable and able to build positive relationships with pupils.
  • GCSE Maths & English or equivalent required.
  • Calm under pressure with a positive outlook.
  • Committed to inclusion and helping every child succeed.

Job Title: Teaching Assistant (SEN)
Area: M16, Greater Manchester
Start Date: 01/09/2026
Contract Type: Full-time (Term-time only)
Salary: GBP100- GBP110.00 per day (depending on experience)
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm

The school supports pupils with Autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. About the Role as a Teaching Assistant:
  • Support pupils in the classroom, working 1:1 or with small groups
  • Help deliver engaging lessons under the guidance of the class teacher
  • Assist pupils with additional needs, promoting confidence, communication, and positive behaviour
  • Provide encouragement and motivation - in class, during activities, or on the playground
  • Act as a reliable adult role model, supporting pupils social and emotional development
What Were Looking For:
  • Experience supporting or mentoring children or young people (school, youth work, sports coaching, volunteering or similar)
  • Patient, approachable, and able to build positive relationships with pupils
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE Maths & English or equivalent)
  • Calm under pressure with a positive outlook and sense of humour
  • Committed to inclusion and helping every child succeed
To be eligible you must:
  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold (or be willing to apply for) an Enhanced Child Barred List DBS registered with the Update Service
  • Provide two professional child-related references
