Job summary

Horizon Care & Education is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant for Meadowbrook School in Long Eaton, Nottingham. You will support pupils aged 5-19 with Autism, assisting learning and behaviour in and out of the classroom, including 1:1 support where needed.

The role is part of a brand-new independent specialist day school opening refurbishment soon, focusing on enabling resilient, skilled learners and delivering rewarding work within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with children who have behavioural support needs.
• GCSE English and Maths grade C or higher or functional skills equivalent.
• Willingness to work towards a recognised teaching assistant qualification.

Responsibilities

• Assist students in their educational and social development.
• Provide support inside and outside the classroom for full engagement in activities.
• Help set up activities using technology or by adjusting the environment to meet needs.
• Support teachers, engage with students, and respond to classroom situations in a positive, non-disruptive manner.
• Work 1:1 with some students to give them time and learning support.

What we're looking for from you:

• Experience of working with children who have behavioural support needs with a good knowledge of behavioural management techniques and, strategiesGrade C or above GCSE in English and Math, or L1/2 equivalent functional skills qualification
• Hold or be willing to work towards a recognised teaching assistant qualification
