SEN Teaching Assistant

Randstad Education has partnered with a leading independent specialist provision dedicated to providing a nurturing and effective learning environment for children aged 5-16 with autism and additional needs such as ADHD, speech and language difficulties, sensory issues, and associated behavioural difficulties. This school prioritises the individual needs of each student, fostering a sense of belonging and promoting a love of learning. This setting successfully supports 105 students between the ages of 5-16 years. This is a therapeutic setting offering every child a curriculum that allows success and motivates the child to succeed. This setting is committed to supporting the learners social and emotional needs alongside their education needs ensuring that the learners have the skills and confidence now and in the future to succeed.

  • Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
  • Shift: Term-time, Full-time (Monday-Friday 08:30-4:30pm)

Responsibilities
  • Providing teaching assistance to the teacher defined according to weekly/daily/seasonal planning of the teacher
  • Working 1:1 with students
  • Providing group and/or individual activities, planned by the teacher
  • Working individually with learners/students to develop work
  • Supporting the general well‑being of learners within the structure of the school
  • Monitoring and evaluating students' learning under the guidance of the teacher
  • Assisting teachers in the use of relevant management strategies to ensure a purposeful environment for teaching and learning to take place
  • Supporting all learners in their planned structured work in all curriculum areas
Qualifications
  • GCSEs in Maths and English are required. Further qualifications in SEN are desirable but not essential.
  • Experience working in SEND settings is desirable but not essential. A willingness to learn and build strong relationships with students is key.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, patience, empathy, and a flexible approach to education.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team is essential.
  • Ability to work with learners that have various learning difficulties
