Job Details

  • Position: SEN Teaching Assistant - Key Stage 1 (KS1)
  • Start Date: April 22nd, 2025
  • Contract: Full-time, Long-term
  • Salary: £90 - £110 per day (dependent on experience)
Role Overview

Are you a compassionate and committed SEN Teaching Assistant looking to support young learners at the start of their educational journey? An inclusive and supportive primary school in Lambeth is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to work within their KS1 department, supporting pupils with special educational needs. This is an excellent opportunity to join a welcoming team and help children thrive both academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide 1:1 or small group support for children with SEN in KS1
  2. Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement tailored learning strategies
  3. Support pupils with a range of needs including autism, speech and language difficulties, and social-emotional challenges
  4. Encourage independence, confidence, and engagement in learning
  5. Maintain a calm, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment
Candidate Requirements
  • Previous experience supporting children with SEN (essential)
  • Knowledge of the primary curriculum, particularly in KS1
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive, proactive approach
  • A valid DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one
