Do you have a passion for supporting students with special educational needs?

A Secondary School in Ipswich is looking for a dedicated and caring SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students with a range of special educational needs (SEN) to ensure they have the support they need to thrive in a classroom setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEN, both inside and outside of the classroom.
  2. Assist in the development of tailored learning programs to meet the specific needs of each individual student.
  3. Support students with their academic work, including reading, writing, and mathematics, ensuring they can access the curriculum.
  4. Help create an inclusive and positive learning environment, promoting the social and emotional well-being of all students.
  5. Collaborate with the class teacher and other professionals to ensure that students' needs are being met effectively.
  6. Monitor students' progress and provide feedback to the teacher regarding their development.
  7. Assist in managing any behavioural challenges in a positive and constructive manner.
  8. Inspire the students to reach their full potential.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally in a learning support role.
  2. A passion for supporting students with a variety of learning needs and helping them reach their full potential.
  3. Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive, supportive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  4. Patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt to different learning styles.
  5. A proactive, team-focused approach to work.
  6. Relevant experience working with children that have Special Educational Needs.
  7. GCSEs grade C (Pass) or above.
