Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)
Location: Canterbury
Salary: GBP88.94 per day
Start time: Immediate

GSL Education are seeking a passionate and innovative SEN Teaching Assistant (TA) to join a supportive SEN school in Canterbury to inspire, support, and empower these exceptional students. As an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will assist in delivering tailored educational programs to students with special educational needs. You will work closely with teachers to create a supportive learning environment, adapt lesson plans to meet individual needs and use a variety of strategies to engage and motivate students.

Key Responsibilities of SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)

  • Assist in developing and implementing individualised education plans (IEPs) that align with students' specific needs and goals.
  • Employ diverse instructional strategies, including hands-on activities, multimedia resources, and interactive discussions, to cater to different learning styles and keep students engaged.
  • Regularly assess students' understanding and progress, providing timely and constructive feedback to help them improve and succeed.
  • Foster a classroom atmosphere that is welcoming, respectful, and conducive to learning, where all students feel valued and supported.
  • Work closely with teachers and other staff to share best practices, develop interdisciplinary projects, and ensure a cohesive and inclusive educational experience for all students.
  • Provide additional support and guidance to students who may be struggling, helping them to overcome challenges and achieve their full potential both academically and personally.
  • Keep detailed records of student's progress, attendance, and behaviour, ensuring that all information is up-to-date and accurately reflects each student's achievements and areas for improvement.

Requirements of SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)

  • Previous experience in a similar role or working with students with special educational needs.
  • Understanding of the national curriculum and strategies for supporting students with SEN.
  • Ability to employ a range of teaching strategies that engage and inspire students, making complex concepts accessible and interesting.
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues, building positive relationships and fostering a collaborative learning environment.
  • Passion for supporting students with SEN and a commitment to their academic and personal development.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies, with a commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all students.
