Job description

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, full time (term time only)

Salary: £105 - £120 per day (depending on experience and qualifications)

We are recruiting on behalf of a highly regarded independent special school on the outskirts of Taunton, dedicated to providing exceptional education for students with autism and additional needs. This school offers a supporting and nurturing environment where staff work closely with small groups of students, helping them develop independence, gain qualifications and explore vocational pathways.

The Role: Teaching Assistant (SEN)

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting both students and tutors. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in lesson delivery and adapting materials to suit individual learning needs
  • Provide 1:1 support and small group guidance to enhance student engagement
  • Using positive behaviour support strategies to encourage participation
  • Supporting students in both classroom and community-based learning activities
  • Helping to develop learning resources tailored to students’ communication needs
