Job summary

TimePlan Education Group is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school on the outskirts of Exeter. This full-time, temporary to permanent role offers £90–£95 per day for a candidate with suitable SEN experience and a caring approach.

You will work 1-1 or in small groups with secondary students who have SEMH, ASD or MLD, supporting academic and emotional needs while maintaining a safe, supportive learning environment and collaborating with teachers.

Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant – SEN school

Location: Outskirts of Exeter, UK

Salary: £90 to £95 per day depending on experience

Contract: Temporary to permanent position

Hours: Full-time (8.30am to 3.30pm, Monday to Friday)

We are seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join an amazing specialist school on the outskirts of Exeter. The school has a nurturing approach to learning, and we require a dedicated and empathetic individual to work with secondary age students who have moderate learning needs.

The successful candidate will work on a 1-1 or small group basis with students who have communication and interaction needs such as ASD and ADHD who learn at primary level. You will be responsible for supporting students with their academic and emotional needs, ensuring they have access to a safe and supportive learning environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Supporting secondary age students with SEMH and MLD on a 1-1 or small group basis
  • Providing emotional and academic support to students
  • Developing and delivering targeted interventions to meet individual needs
  • Liaising with teachers and other professionals to ensure effective communication and collaboration
  • Maintaining accurate records of student progress and achievement
Requirements:
  • Experience of working with secondary age students with SEMH, ASD or MLD, preferably in a specialist setting
  • A resilient and compassionate approach to supporting students with challenging behaviour
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload

This is a full-time temporary to permanent position for the right candidate. We offer a competitive salary and a supportive and dynamic working environment. There is the opportunity for this role to become permanent.
