Job summary

Aspire People is recruiting experienced SEN Teaching Assistants to support children with Special Educational Needs across Leicester and surrounding areas. Roles range from day-to-day to long-term and part-time placements in mainstream and specialist settings.

You will work with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff to provide targeted support, adapt resources, and foster an inclusive learning environment for children with Autism, ADHD, SEMH, and other needs.

Qualifications

• Experience with SEN in school, childcare, or similar setting.
• Ability support pupils with diverse needs.
• Patience, empathy and nurturing approach.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Reliable and adaptable, able to work school hours 8:30–15:30.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs
• Assist pupils in accessing learning activities and achieving their individual targets
• Support the social, emotional, and academic development of pupils
• Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff
• Adapt learning resources and activities to meet individual needs
• Promote a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment
• Support pupils with a range of needs, including Autism, ADHD, Speech and Language Difficulties, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs

Requirements

• Have previous experience working with children with Special Educational Needs within a school, childcare, or similar setting
• Be confident supporting pupils with a variety of additional needs
• Demonstrate patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach
• Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Be adaptable, proactive, and reliable
• Be available to work school hours of 8:30am - 3:30pm
• Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one
