Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant for a mainstream Primary School in Derby (DE24). The role is full-time and long-term from ASAP until July 2027, covering EYFS and KS1 with a mix of 1:1 and small group support to help pupils access the curriculum and progress.

The ideal candidate will have SEND experience in a mainstream setting, support across EYFS and KS1, and strong communication skills to encourage engagement and learning for diverse needs.

• Confidence delivering 1:1 and small group interventions.

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a mainstream Primary School based in Derby, DE24, who are looking to appoint a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant. The school is seeking a caring and enthusiastic individual who can provide consistent support to children with additional needs, helping them develop their confidence, independence and engagement within the classroom.

The school is looking to take on a SEND Teaching Assistant on a full-time, long-term basis from ASAP until July 2027, working across EYFS and Key Stage 1 / KS1. The successful SEND Teaching Assistant will provide a mixture of 1:1 and small group support, adapting learning activities, encouraging pupil engagement and working closely with class teachers to ensure children with SEND can access the curriculum and make progress.

The successful SEND Teaching Assistant will have:

• Experience supporting children with SEND within a mainstream primary school
• Experience working with pupils across EYFS and Key Stage 1 / KS1
• Confidence delivering 1:1 and small group interventions
• Knowledge of strategies to support children with additional learning and communication needs
• A patient, caring and adaptable approach with strong communication skills
