SEN Teaching Assistant - Stockport
Pay: £419.25 - £500 per week
Contract: Full-time, ASAP start until the end of the academic year

An Ofsted-rated 'Good' secondary school in Stockport is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is a full-time position beginning as soon as possible, continuing until the end of the academic year, with the potential to become permanent based on performance.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people with special educational needs, including those with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with both students and teaching staff to ensure all learners can access the curriculum, develop confidence, and reach their full potential in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with a range of SEN
  • Assist the classroom teacher in managing student behaviour and delivering differentiated lesson content
  • Develop trusting relationships with pupils to help them feel safe and supported at school
  • Support students with emotional regulation, communication, and daily routines
  • Work collaboratively with the school's SENCo and wider support team to implement individual learning plans (EHCPs)
  • Monitor and report on student progress and highlight areas of concern
Details:
  • Full-time position, Monday to Friday (school hours)
  • Start date: ASAP
  • End date: End of academic year, with the potential for the role to be made permanent
  • Weekly pay: £419.25 - £500, paid through Teaching Personnel
  • Location: Stockport, Greater Manchester
Requirements:
  • Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs is desirable
  • A calm, patient and adaptable approach to support varying needs
  • A genuine interest in education and supporting vulnerable learners
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A background in psychology, youth work, social care or education is beneficial but not essential
