Job description

Niche Education is currently looking for dedicated and enthusiastic Support Staff to join our team across the Tyneside areas.

We have opportunities for SEN Support Staff, Teaching Assistants and 1:1 Support Workers to work with children and young people across a range of educational settings.

We're looking for individuals who are patient, understanding, resilient and committed to making a positive difference. You'll play an important role in supporting pupils with their learning, development and wellbeing, helping them to build confidence and achieve their goals.

The Role

As a Support Staff member, you'll work directly with young people in the classroom, including providing dedicated 1:1 support to pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

You’ll provide practical, emotional and educational support, helping pupils to engage with their learning, manage challenges and develop their confidence and independence.

Depending on the role and individual pupil's needs, you may support children and young people with a range of SEN and additional needs, helping them access education and participate positively within the school environment.

You’ll work closely with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals to ensure pupils receive the appropriate support and encouragement to succeed.

This role is about much more than academic achievement. You’ll help create a positive, inclusive environment where young people feel valued, supported and confident in their abilities.

The role can be incredibly rewarding, but you’ll need to be patient, adaptable, resilient and committed to the wellbeing and development of young people.

About You

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working in a classroom, school or educational environment.
  • Has experience supporting children or young people with SEN - desirable but not essential.
  • Has experience providing 1:1 support or is keen to develop their experience in this area.
  • Is passionate about supporting children and young people.
  • Can build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Is patient, understanding and encouraging.
  • Can motivate and inspire young people to achieve their potential.
  • Is resilient and able to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • Works well as part of a team.
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of young people.

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who can connect with young people, understand their individual needs and make a genuine difference to their day-to-day experience of education.
