Job summary

Loyal Blue Recruitment is partnering with a specialist SEN secondary school near Watford to recruit an experienced SEN teacher for a small Year 8 class of 3 pupils. The role offers long-term commitment with patience, consistency and a calm approach to support learning and confidence.

You’ll teach Maths, English and Science with freedom to implement your own ideas and methods, working alongside Teaching Assistants to support pupils' needs.

Qualifications

• Experience in SEN, SEMH, alternative provision or complex-needs settings.
• Patience, resilience and ability to build trust with pupils.
• Ability to adapt teaching to individual needs within a small group.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging Maths, English and Science lessons.
• Teach a small class of 3 Year 8 pupils and support learning.
• Support pupils with autism, SEMH and additional needs.
• Adapt lessons to individual learning styles and needs.
• Use structured communication approaches where appropriate.
• Build positive, consistent relationships with pupils.
• Manage behaviour calmly and confidently, with de-escalation.
• Collaborate with Teaching Assistants and support staff.
• Participate in trips, outdoor learning and practical activities.
• Help pupils develop confidence, communication and independence.
