Job summary

Groveside School is seeking an enthusiastic SEN Teacher to join our specialist team in Reading. You’ll work with smaller classes, tailor learning to individual needs and build meaningful relationships with pupils to support confidence and independence.

This permanent, term-time role offers 37.5 hours per week with a salary up to £45,000 (experience-based). A £1,000 Welcome Bonus is available, and the start is planned for October 2026. UK applicants only; sponsorship is not available.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, creative and personalised lessons that inspire every pupil to succeed.
• Adapt teaching to meet individual learning needs, helping pupils achieve their academic, social and emotional goals.
• Monitor, assess and celebrate pupil progress, using personalised learning strategies to maximise outcomes.
• Develop and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs), behaviour plans and personalised learning pathways.
• Create a positive, structured and nurturing classroom where pupils feel safe, motivated and ready to learn.
• Work collaboratively with Learning Support Assistants, therapists, families and the wider multidisciplinary team.
• Support pupils to develop confidence, independence, resilience and positive behaviour.
• Contribute to whole-school improvement and help shape an outstanding specialist learning environment.
• Safeguard and promote the welfare of all children and young people.

Groveside School is a Special Educational Needs School for Pupils 7 - 16 years old with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs. Our school opened in September 2024 and will cater for 60 pupils.
