Job summary

Outcomes First Group is seeking a SEN Teacher at Underley Garden School, Kirkby Lonsdale, to deliver engaging, differentiated lessons for pupils aged 5–19 with SEN/SEMH. The role runs 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm, with a salary of £41,000 plus travel allowance, starting September 2026.

  • QTS/QTLS or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
  • Resilience, adaptability and calm confidence with strong behaviour management.
  • Driving licence required.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver creative, engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to pupils with SEN and SEMH.
  • Create a positive, nurturing classroom environment that promotes confidence, independence and outstanding behaviour.
  • Assess, monitor and track progress, using information to shape planning and interventions.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, therapists and families to achieve the best outcomes for every pupil.
  • Support social, emotional and personal development while promoting positive behaviour and wellbeing.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school, including pastoral support, EHCP reviews, parent communication and ongoing improvement.

As anSEN Teacher, you’ll create an engaging, inclusive classroom where every pupil feels safe, valued and motivated to learn. You’ll plan and deliver creative, individualised lessons, and work alongside teaching assistants, therapists, families and the wider school team to support pupils’academic progressas well as theirsocial and emotional development.

You’ll also have the opportunity to take onForm Tutorresponsibilities, guiding a small team around your pupils to ensure they receive the personalised support they need to succeed.

What you’ll bring
  • QTS/QTLSor an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • A genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.
  • The ability to build strong relationships with pupils, families and colleagues and work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Resilience, adaptability and calm confidence, with strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
  • Experience in SEN, SEMH or specialist education is desirable, but not essential—your teaching ability and commitment are what matter most.
  • Driving licence required.
