Job description

Due to expansion, Newbury Manor School is looking to recruit an outstanding SEN Teacher to join our teaching team. We seek an ambitious, energetic, and committed teacher to enhance the learning experiences of our pupils. The successful candidate will teach and support young people who may have autism, emotional behavioral difficulties, ADHD, and associated complex needs. Candidates should be qualified teachers (hold QTS) or experienced unqualified teachers.

Newbury Manor School is a specialist school for young people aged 7 to 19 with autistic spectrum disorders (ASD). Located in a Georgian manor house in a rural setting near Frome, Somerset, the school supports a wide range of needs, from those with average abilities to severe learning difficulties.

We provide a safe, secure, and predictable environment where students can understand their difficulties and learn skills to overcome them, fostering social, academic, physical, and spiritual development, and building self-esteem and confidence.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Teach a class of young people, ensuring planning, preparation, assessment, and reporting meet their diverse needs.
  • Utilize recognized teaching strategies suitable for students with SEN.
  • Provide accurate reports to stakeholders including SLT, governors, and parents/carers.
  • Maintain records of assessments and progress, aligning with targets.
  • Uphold the school's ethos and core values both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Collaborate with key workers and therapeutic teams to follow care plans and develop educational schemes.
  • Maintain high standards of professional practice and safeguarding.
