Job summary

Oak Tree School in Berkshire seeks an SEN Primary Teacher to join a specialist team. You will deliver high-quality teaching to primary pupils with SEND, tailoring learning to individual strengths and needs, and supporting progress academically, socially and emotionally.

Collaborating with Teaching Assistants, therapists and other professionals, you will implement AAC strategies to ensure access to learning and contribute to EHCP reviews and targets in a nurturing environment.

Qualifications

• Qualified teacher with experience of teaching primary-aged pupils.
• Strong understanding of SEND, particularly autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and complex needs.
• Ability to adapt teaching approaches to meet diverse learning needs.

About the Role

As an SEN Primary Teacher, you will:

• Deliver high-quality teaching and learning for primary-aged pupils with Special Educational Needs.
• Plan engaging and personalised learning experiences that reflect individual strengths and needs.
• Support pupils to make excellent progress academically, socially and emotionally.
• Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, therapists and other professionals.
• Implement communication strategies, including Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), to ensure all pupils can access learning.
• Monitor, assess and track progress, contributing to Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) reviews and targets.
• Create a positive, safe and nurturing learning environment where pupils can develop confidence and independence.
• Build strong partnerships with parents, carers and external agencies to secure the best outcomes for pupils.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

• Is a qualified teacher with experience of teaching primary-aged pupils.
• Has a strong understanding of SEND, particularly autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and associated complex needs.
• Can adapt teaching approaches to meet a wide range of learning needs.
• Demonstrates excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
• Is committed to inclusive education and raising aspirations for every pupil.
• Works effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Is enthusiastic, reflective and committed to continuous professional development.
