This role involves teaching a mixed KS2 class and requires a commitment to helping students with autism and severe learning difficulties reach their full potential. SEN Teacher
I am currently seeking an experienced SEN teacher with a background in working with students with autism and related learning difficulties to join a top SEN school in North West London. The school aims to appoint a dedicated SEN teacher promptly to teach a mixed KS2 class during a maternity leave.
This welcoming and supportive school encourages staff well-being through a good work/life balance, offers weekly training sessions, and involves staff actively in school life. Having collaborated with them for nearly 12 years, I can personally recommend this school as a highly valued place for teachers and TAs.
The school is accessible via public transport, with train and bus links to North West London, Central, and West London, all within a 5-minute walk. It is a mixed needs school on a purpose-built site, catering to children aged 3 to 11 with autism and severe learning difficulties. Recent investments include sensory play areas, sensory rooms, and state-of-the-art classroom equipment, which have been well received by staff and parents. Parking is not available, so reliance on public transport is essential.
The role involves leading, delivering, and coordinating lessons and curricula for students with autism and severe learning disabilities, along with related physical, cognitive, and developmental challenges. You should be committed to helping pupils make good progress and encouraging them to reach their potential through engaging teaching. Strong leadership skills, the ability to set targets, plan sensory curricula, write reports, liaise with parents and external agencies, and communicate effectively with staff are essential. You will oversee three experienced LSAs who are familiar with school policies and students but will require firm classroom leadership.
