Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment LTD are working with a welcoming mainstream primary school in Leigh, seeking a dedicated SEN Teacher to start as soon as possible. This is a long-term, ongoing role running until July 2027, in a supportive environment for a small group of children with SEN.

You will deliver targeted lessons, adapt planning to EHCPs, track progress, and work closely with the SENCO, parents and LSAs to provide holistic support.

Qualifications

• QTS or equivalent teaching qualification required.
• Experience teaching in a primary school with SEN focus preferred.
• Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain via Update Service required.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Tradewind Recruitment is currently working in partnership with a welcoming mainstream primary school in Leigh, who are looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teacher to join their team as soon as possible. This is a fantastic, long-term opportunity running on an ongoing basis until July 2027. You will be working within a supportive primary environment, leading and supporting a small, focused group of children with Special Educational Needs (SEN). The role is ideal for a teacher who is passionate about inclusive education and making a tangible difference in the daily lives and academic journeys of children with diverse learning needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Targeted Teaching: Deliver engaging, tailored lessons and interventions for a small cohort of primary-aged children with SEN.
• Inclusive Planning: Adapt the primary curriculum to suit individual learning styles, Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), and specific educational needs.
• Progress Tracking: Monitor, assess, and record student progress, celebrating achievements and setting meaningful next steps.
• Collaborative Working: Work closely with the school's SENCO, parents, LSAs (Learning Support Assistants), and external agencies to ensure a holistic support network.
• Positive Environment: Foster a safe, nurturing, and stimulating classroom culture where every child feels valued and empowered to succeed.

Requirements

• Qualifications: Hold UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Experience: Previous experience teaching within a primary school setting, with a strong background or clear passion for supporting children with SEN (e.g., ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or Moderate Learning Difficulties).
• Skills: Excellent patience, adaptability, and strong communication skills.
• Availability: Able to commit to a full-time, ongoing role starting immediately in Leigh through to July 2027.
• Compliance: Possess (or be willing to apply for) an enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service.
• Have the legal right to work in the UK.
