Job summary

Belong Limited in Gloucestershire is seeking a SEN Teacher to join Belong School Gloucestershire across Gloucester and Slimbridge. You will teach core subjects at KS3/KS4, with GCSE and Functional Skills options, and support learners in an inclusive setting.

The ideal candidate holds QTS (Primary or Secondary) and brings flexibility to adapt to students’ needs. SEMH experience is desirable, with strong CPD and progression opportunities.

Belong Learning students often have a continual lived experience of complex additional needs and adverse childhood experiences, in and outside of school, at home and in the community. In this context, we recognise that Education Provisions, are often the right place at the right time to deliver and/or facilitate the support that children and young people need, as part of an integrated Local Authority offer.

Belong Learning facilitates learning environments in a range of settings, such as community-based locations, specialised provisions, and students' homes, as well as at school. In all those, we utilise high levels of scaffolding and support, both academic and developmental. We endeavour to provide our students with a broad and rich curriculum that is distinct from mainstream education not by what we teach, but by how we deliver it. Students' curriculum is crafted to match their interests, needs and aspirations and provide them with the accreditations and skills to enable them to thrive at school and be prepared for life beyond it.

Our practice is grounded in an evidence based, multi-disciplinary approach that creates a holistic offer. We operate inclusive school communities that draw on Restorative practices and Trauma Informed Approaches to understand and teach behaviour. Experience of working in an SEMH setting would be desirable.

The role will be based across our two sites in Gloucester and Slimbridge and requires a teacher who is an excellent classroom practitioner, deeply committed to improving student outcomes and passionate about teaching and learning.
