Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver educational packages for Key Stage 4.

Prospero Teaching are proud to be supporting a specialist SEN school in Christchurch, Dorset, in recruiting a dedicated SEN Teacher to lead a Key Stage 4 class from September 2025, or earlier for the right candidate.

This specialist provision caters for children and young people aged 4-16 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Complex Needs, offering a highly supportive and therapeutic environment. The school is committed to delivering personalised, aspirational learning that prepares pupils for successful, fulfilling lives beyond the classroom.

About the Role:
The school is seeking a SEN Teacher to take responsibility for a Key Stage 4 class, focused on personal development and preparation for adulthood. You will plan and deliver a tailored educational package that promotes functional skills, independence, and social confidencesupporting pupils to transition into further education, employment, or apprenticeships.

You will work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, families, and external agencies to create a nurturing and goal-oriented classroom environment.

We Welcome Applications From:

  • Qualified Teachers with experience in SEN or mainstream KS4 education
  • Teachers with knowledge of Autism, communication needs, and EHCP-led planning
  • Candidates familiar with PECS, Makaton, TEACCH, or similar approaches
  • Individuals with a passion for preparing young people for life beyond school
  • Start Date: September 2025 / ASAP
  • Contract Type: Permanent (or long-term supply with permanent potential)
  • Working Hours: 8:30am 4:30pm (Monday to Friday)
  • Salary: MPS/UPS + SEN Allowance (depending on experience)

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS)
  • Experience teaching children or young people with SEND (preferably ASC and Complex Needs)
  • Strong understanding of KS4 curriculum, accreditation pathways, and transition planning
  • Up-to-date Safeguarding Training (within the last year)
  • Enhanced Child DBS (on the Update Service or willing to apply)
  • Two professional, child-related references
