Job summary

Aspire People is seeking SEMH Teaching Assistants to provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH, behavioural needs, or emotional regulation challenges. You will build positive relationships and assist with emotion regulation strategies within a school setting.

The role involves working with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to implement behaviour plans and school strategies, fostering resilience and engagement in learners across primary and secondary settings.

Qualifications

  • Recent experience working with children or young people with SEMH/behavioural needs.
  • Experience within a UK school, alternative provision, youth setting, or similar environment.
  • Calm and consistent approach.
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
  • Resilience and emotional maturity.
  • Genuine commitment to helping vulnerable children succeed.

Responsibilities

SEMH Teaching Assistant - Behaviour & Emotional Support

Do you have experience supporting children with SEMH, behavioural difficulties, or emotional regulation needs ?

Aspire People are currently working with primary schools looking for resilient and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistants who can help pupils overcome barriers to learning.

This role would suit someone who understands the importance of building trust and consistency with children who may struggle with behaviour, emotional regulation, relationships, or engagement within a traditional classroom environment.

Your ability to remain calm, build positive relationships, and understand the reasons behind behaviour will be crucial.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Providing 1:1 and small-group SEMH support
  • Supporting pupils with challenging or dysregulated behaviour
  • Developing positive and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Helping children develop emotional regulation strategies
  • Supporting behaviour plans and agreed school strategies
