Job summary

Education World are partnering with a post 16 college in the Consett and Newcastle areas to recruit Support Workers with SEN and autism understanding to confidently engage learners aged 14+ with complex needs.

You will work 1:1 with students, helping them navigate timetables and participate in lessons, requiring a supportive presence and strong behaviour management across diverse needs. Full and part-time roles are available, with ongoing CPD opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience in SEN or understanding autism certification (or equivalent).
• Experience working with children and young adults with additional needs.
• Positive can-do attitude and ability to support students daily.
• Strong behaviour management and safeguarding awareness.
• Ability to adapt to different learning environments and support timetable navigation.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support to learners aged 14+ with complex needs.
• Help students navigate timetables and engage in lessons.
• Maintain a supportive presence and adapt to diverse behaviours.
• Assist with day-to-day activities while encouraging learning.
• Support students to reach their fullest potential in class.
