You will assist in planning and delivering programmes for targeted SEN and mainstream curriculum support, liaising with teachers, parents and external agencies as needed.

Responsibilities

• Support individuals or groups of students to ensure their safety and facilitate their physical, emotional and cognitive development.
• Lead care, personal hygiene medical needs and support of students including publishing care plans.
• Contribute to the health and well-being of students.
• Establish and maintain good working relationships with individual students and groups.
• Promote and reinforce the students' self-esteem and independence e.g. support inform time, AoW, unstructured time, enrichment.
• Encourage acceptance and inclusion of all students including delivery of targeted interventions and any other support tasks as directed by the SENCo.
• Support students during formal public or internal Academy examinations.
• Supervise and coordinate students on work placements, educational visits, residential trips, transition, travel training, off-site placements and recreational activities.
• Plan and deliver a programme of self-organisation and study skills in allocated periods during the Academy day and after Academy sessions.
• Draw upon prior knowledge to understand the specific needs of students within the Academy community.
• Liaise with teachers/parents/carers/external agencies as appropriate.
• Assume responsibility for designated keyworker role with the most challenging students, including those with an EHCP.
• Collaborate with the SENCo in writing and collating IEPs/Reviews/Annual Reviews.
• Plan and participate in transition processes and individualised programmes for targeted students.
• Liaise with classroom teachers and complete Teacher/TA contracts.
• Assist teaching staff in planning work programmes for individuals and groups of students.
• Implement learning programmes as directed by the class teacher.
• Plan and provide resources reflecting needs of SEN students in mainstream lessons.
• Support designated students or a small group as agreed by the teacher.
• Collate data for targeted students with SEN.
• Use assessment information to inform teaching staff of learning goals and styles.
• Gather information about named students and their current levels for staff.
• Observe and assess individual students’ needs and provide feedback to teachers/SENCo.
• Agree a behaviour management role within the classroom and apply sanctions and rewards.
• Work with the mainstream teacher in the review process as appropriate.
• Plan and lead literacy and numeracy tasks to improve access across the curriculum.
• Coordinate and organise students attending extra-curricular activities.
• Plan and deliver learning activities including enrichment during the school day and after school.
• Support the use and development of ICT within the classroom.
• Develop and deliver individual/small group sessions including Literacy, Numeracy, Life Skills, SpLD, SRE, SALT, self-help skills, Social Stories.
• Teach the Foundation Learning cohort in sessions as directed by the SENCo and Assistant Principal (Curriculum).
• Liaise and report to visiting support agencies involved in curriculum support such as Educational Psychologist, Speech Therapist, Inclusive Education Service, Academy Doctor.
• Assess, record and report student achievement through Academy assessment procedures.
