Job summary

Frederick Holmes School is seeking a Teaching & Learning Support Assistant on a fixed-term contract to 31 August 2027. The role focuses on tailored adult support for pupils with complex medical, learning, physical and communication needs, including personal care and group learning contributions, with a 33.33-hour week, term-time plus five days.

Experience is welcome but not essential; visa sponsorship is not available. The post is specialist and requires flexibility across the school.

Qualifications

• Understanding of the National Curriculum, EYFS guidance and safeguarding expectations.
• Effective use of ICT to support teaching and learning.
• Courtesy, tact, diplomacy and negotiation skills.
• Ability to build professional relationships with colleagues, pupils and families.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist, tailored support to individual pupils with SEN and complex needs.
• Assist planning and evaluation of learning, giving teachers feedback on progress.
• Support academic, social and emotional development of individuals and groups.
• Assist with developing and implementing Individual Education & Behaviour Plans.
• Support pupils with personal care routines, medical needs and physical management programmes.
• Set high expectations and promote self-esteem and independence.
• Work flexibly across the school, supporting pupils in class and groups.
