Job summary

Monarch Education is recruiting a full-time Teaching Assistant for a complex needs school in Bristol (BS16, Fishponds area) to start October 2026. The role is 8:45-15:45, full-time with temp-to-perm opportunities, supporting pupils aged 5-19 with ASC/SLD/PMLD in one-to-one and small-group settings.

Responsibilities include personal care, mobility support, sensory learning, and facilitating communication using PECS, Makaton, or visuals, working with teachers and therapists to track progress.

Qualifications

• Experience with children with complex needs (ASC/SLD/PMLD) in a school or care setting.
• Comfortable supporting personal care
• Patient and able to follow structured routines
• Full-time availability

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one support for pupils aged 5–19 with complex needs.
• Support small groups with sensory and structured learning activities.
• Assist with personal care where required.
• Support feeding, mobility and use of specialist equipment.
• Help pupils engage with learning through adapted and practical activities.
• Follow individual support plans and routines.
• Promote communication using methods such as PECS, Makaton or visual aids.
• Work alongside teachers and therapists to support pupil development.
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to staff.
